The February 12 Sunday Edition of Newsday had a very colorful insert! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Newsday included a bridal planner for subscribers and asked Turn Loose the Art to be a part of it. They asked us for some images from Amanda and Keyur’s wedding this past summer at Carlyle on the Green.

Winter – ’tis the season for real wedding features! Before Tifini and Bill even got married she had our images scheduled for Long Island Bride & Groom’s real wedding section. It just came out and the article looks great! They did a wonderful job of showcasing our work, the details Tifini chose, and the Garden City Hotel’s ballroom.

Several months back, Emotion Media asked to interview us as a featured photographer for their new website format. Things got pretty busy for us after that, then Finn arrived, and we’ve completely been remiss in showing what they did!

They asked us for a sample slideshow and we had just finished John and Renee’s beautiful City Winery slideshow and thought it was a perfect example of our work and how we use their media shows for our couples.

You can definitely tell it’s wedding season when we start posting every week about press features! This week it’s Mike and Ilana’s wedding from last summer, and it’s making an appearance today on Well Wed’s Hamptons blog!

In addition to choosing some lovely images, I think they did a great job on the story, and in particular, showcasing Ilana’s advice to really enjoying her wedding day.

Last week we had not one, but two! real weddings published on some of our favorite wedding blogs. The first was Candice and Dan’s beautiful wedding on Merci New York‘s NYC blog last Tuesday.

The very next day, Style Me Pretty published a feature on Francine and Jon’s Jersey Shore wedding.

Joe and I both know that these were great weddings, but it’s nice to see others agree that both couples put together fabulous celebrations!

We’ve had some pretty great press in the last couple months! We’ve been neglectful of posting about the first because we keep forgetting to take photos of WellWed Hamptons‘ Spring/Summer ’11 issue, but no more! We’re thrilled to share Mike and Ilana’s images published in a couple different features in the magazine.

In addition to WellWed, Newsday published a short story and feature image from Chris and Kathleen’s wedding just last weekend in both the print paper and online.

I just sat with my morning tea looking through the recent award winning images for ISPWP’s Winter Contest. I’m truly amazed at some of the amazing work in there! I spent a lot of time looking through some of the images, wondering how on earth everything lined up in that one spectacular shot.

Joe and I are honored to have placed a few images in the contest, and I think Joe’s secretly thrilled to have done so much better than me!

Some Recent Press featuring Turn Loose The Art

It’s taken us a while to track down this feature, as it appears the magazines are selling like hotcakes all over New York City. South Asian Bride magazine asked to feature the beautiful wedding of Sadiaka and Yusha.

Also, we are thrilled to tell you that Carolina and Zoe’s wedding announcement was published in the New York Times last week. We hope their Boston wedding was wonderful!

We were commissioned once again to photograph the cover article for Home Business Connection magazine a few weeks ago – and the April issue was just released! We think the publishers did a great job selecting photos of this gentleman. We did most of the shoot on the beach at Long Beach, NY the first week of March – and it was BITTER COLD and WINDY that day!!!

Here is one that didn’t make the publisher’s cut, but Britney and I like this shot; it’s one of our favorites from the shoot. You can’t tell it was 38 degrees that day!

WPJA Award Winning Photography

I’m really happy to announce I’ve placed in another WPJA contest, and at the same time sad to announce this will be the last image of mine that wins anything over there. Though I’ve thoroughly enjoyed entering contests and the way it pushes me to make better images, I get that same push from ISPWP now. And WPJA as an advertising outlet has not been very successful for Turn Loose the Art in the past couple years. It is kind of nice to go out with a winning image though!

What a great Monday morning present and excellent start to the week! As I (Britney) was making my morning tea latte, Joe called me over to check out the latest ISPWP Winter ’09 contest results. Joe and I each received a high placing award this quarter!

When I took this image, I knew it was going to be a great capture instantly. Sometimes you just know, and Sheryl and Michael were the ultimate winners here with a great image capturing the whole family.

As most of our clients already know, Joe and I are a bit competitive. And by “a bit” I mean very! We are always on the hunt for an image the other will have to admit is great. It’s a healthy competition and I really love it when Joe comes up with something like the image of Erin and Kevin below. Plus, he placed in my favorite contest category, All About Light!

Just before taking off yesterday for 4th of July plans, I heard my inbox ding. I thought about ignoring it, being a holiday and all. I’m so glad I didn’t! The email itself showed me being 7th overall in the contest for this quarter, and as I quickly flipped through the winning images I came to find one of my favorite images had placed 1st in the Details category!

I have to thank Sadiaka, of course, for having perfect body language and wearing such an incredible gown.

After returning from a grueling wedding this weekend, I opened my email on my phone as I was winding down and climbing into bed. I’m so glad I did, as I found an email from the ISPWP in my inbox announcing the new quarterly contest results, and I have three placements. Better yet, I nailed a 1st place this quarter!
